Last week, our university did the honours to Sustainable Film Festival. Due to that organisation, we met gorgeous movies, music bands and amazing people.
One of the movie is quite related to my Arch221 topic, Ideal City in progress!
That movie was called -Keep on Rolling: The Fantasy of the Automobile-
The content of film :
In just over a century, cars have completely transformed our way of life. In many areas, cars are prioritised over people. 62% of urban space is now devoted to roads or car parks and garages are often larger than children’s rooms. Devoting so much public space to the least efficient form of transport has also changed the way we interact with our environment. Children go out much less and watch much more tv. This film examines the implications of our love affair with the car.
As a final of that movie, it mentioned about evolving of ideal city from Greek’s urban planning to today’s conditions. Ancient Greeks design their urban plans to get together by sharing common spaces. However, nowadays urban spaces are occupied by car roads or car parks.
