” Hey ! Do you see the colours ? Look at these. I know that poem. Look at the lines, proportions! ”
These are just a few examples of our excitement while visiting the exhibition. We were really charmed in the face of abstract painting and sketches. Even if we have already informed about Bedri Rahmi, his paintings, mosaics and poems, I was acquainted with Abidin Elderoğlu as a first time.
It is quite significant to be aware of own culture, and own artist to understand the relation of culture and art. Both artist are fantastic in terms of usage of colour, coherence with colours, technique and proportion. I was really impressed by the settlement of the object in the paper, pastel colours, rhythm and regularity with lines and objects. Also, there were a poem on the wall which I was familiar with from high school.
Karadutum, çatal karam, çingenem
Nar tanem, nur tanem, bir tanem
Agaç isem dalımsın salkım saçak
Petek isem balımsın a gülüm
Sigara paketlerine resmini çizdiğim
Körpe fidanlara adını yazdığım
Kaşı karam, gözü karam, bahtı karam
Sıla kokar, arzu tüter
Ilgıt ılgıt buram buram.
Ben beyzade, kişizade,
Her türlü dertten topyekün azade
Hani şu ekmeği elden suyu gölden.
Durup dururken yorulan
Kibrit çöpü gibi kırılan
Yalnız sanat çıkmazlarında başını kaşıyan
Artık otlar göstermelik atlar gibi bedava yaşayan
Sen benim mihnet içinde yanmış kavrulmuşum
Bedri Rahmi EYÜBOĞLU
